Intermediate Footballers pick up first victory of the season

Adare 1-12

Athea 0-7

Our intermediate footballers had a convincing win today over Athea in Mick Neville Park in the County Football League. In atrocious conditions and against the wind, we were 5 points to 2 down at half time with 9 first half wides. We'd played well but just couldn't convert the chances. The game was blown up early at halftime with hailstones flying horizontally so that they felt like tiny needles pricking - it was up there with the worst conditions ever witnessed in a game.

When the teams returned to the field after halftime, the floodgates opened and Adare eased into an unassailable lead with great scores from Hughie Bourke, Davy and Mikey Lyons. Neil Mulvihill picked up an opportunist goal and Adare eased to victory on a final scoreline of 1-12 to 0-7
