Under 21s defeat Monaleen to progress to the County Quarter Final

Hearty congratulations to our U21 footballers who are through to the County Quarter Final. They defeated Monaleen yesterday on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-6.

We took a commanding lead of 4 points to 1 into a strong gale and this proved to be the foundation on which the victory was built. We led 5 points to 4 at half time however upon resumption, struggled to put daylight between the teams. Davy Lyons got dragged to the ground 15 minutes into the second half and converted the resulting penalty to give us a 5 point lead. Shortly afterwards, Shane Costelloe blasted the ball home to put us 8 points clear.

We saw the game out comfortably and now play Newcastle West in the County Quarter Final.

Fixture details to follow. ‪
